Is your car insurance too expensive?

There are lots of advantages to being young but unfortunately there are several pretty major disadvantages as well; and one of them is that car insurance can cost an absolute fortune! There are several ways the young drivers use to get around this; unfortunately one of them involves a high proportion of young drivers between 17 and 24 simply taking the dreadful risk of driving without insurance at all; this is absolutely the worst thing to do because it is so easy to get caught. It is now becoming common practice for police cameras to check the number plates of cars on the road and look up the insurance details on a central database; the first thing that the unfortunate driver knows of this is when a police car appears in the driving mirror with all the blue lights flashing brightly! Another problem is that no matter how confident our young driver is about his or her driving ability, the fact is that around about 20 per cent of drivers under the age of 21 have a fairly serious accident every year and getting caught for driving without insurance is one thing, getting caught after causing considerable damage and possibly even injuring other people or worse can lead to huge fines, driving bans and even imprisonment. It simply isn't worth it.

This doesn't mean to say that a young driver facing an enormous insurance premium just has to grin and bear it! There are ways and means of lowering premiums which are perfectly legal and acceptable to the insurance companies and these include taking a " Pass Plus" course, using a decent comparison sites to find the lowest quote and getting A quote from a company such as direct line insurance or Admiral Car Insurance which specializes in finding the lowest prices for higher risk groups. Admiral have a panel of insurers who will cover people who normally fine insurance very expensive such as those living in high risk areas, owners of high performance vehicles and young, inexperienced drivers.

The Pass Plus course is well worth taking; it involves going back to a driving instructor and taking a course which is designed to improve upon the skills of people who have recently passed their basic driving test but who have probably had little experience in driving under demanding conditions such as in poor weather, on motorways or on crowded city roads. There are two main advantage is taking one of these courses; firstly, the pupil will emerge, probably, as or better and safer driver, and also benefit financially because a growing number of insurance companies recognise that someone who has spent time and money in the improvement of driving skills is likely to be a much safer driver in the future and so would qualify for a lower premium.
